The double-pipe (shuangguan) is a rare folk instrument of Zhuanghe: two bamboo pipes played together produce a deep, dignified tone. Introduced from Shandong by migrating musicians in the late 19th century, it became a fixture of temple fairs, festivals and weddings. Playing it demands long breath and precise fingering; today inheritors teach it in schools and communities so the sound carries on.
