Zhuanghe paper-cutting, a national-level intangible cultural heritage since 2008, is rooted in fishing villages and farmhouses. Its bold, freehand lines and lively themes — boats, fish, crabs and wedding lanterns — carry the straightforward spirit of the coastal people. Master Han Yueqin (b. 1941) helped bring it into schools and galleries, where a new generation now takes up the scissors.
